About

Samuel is the RTP Secure Operations Center (SOC) Team Lead for Cisco Active Threat Analytics (ATA) holding a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He holds 13 industry certifications and helped to develop the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – CyberOps certification. Samuel is a veteran of the United States Army where, on top of leading network engineering teams, he was awarded the Network and Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) Soldier of the Year in 2014. Since departing the service, he has served as a cybersecurity engineer for a federal contracting agency then as a Tier3 Security Investigator for Cisco Systems before being promoted to Team Lead. Samuel’s volunteer and membership associations include: Active member of the Raleigh Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), active member of the Eastern North Carolina InfraGard Chapter, Talkers@Cisco Club 9445 Toastmaster, and a Nepris Inc. mentor for high school and middle school age children.

Why I likes Mentoring Others:

  • Cyber is vast and tough to navigate. Having someone to walk with you on that road is crucial to success.
  • I like to squash misconceptions about entering the field and the people in the field. This helps to open eyes to just how obtainable a career in cybersecurity is.
  • I have been helped by so many that will likely never fully know the impact they had on my life and career – now, it’s my turn.
